Guwahati (Assam): The Gauhati High Court in Assam’s capital received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday, which later turned out to be a hoax, according to officials.

A senior police official from Guwahati city informed ANI that the threat came from an anonymous email account. In response, security personnel quickly arrived at the high court to conduct a thorough search. “It is a bomb hoax. The threat was received via email,” the police official confirmed.

Ankur Jain, Joint Police Commissioner of Guwahati, reassured ANI, stating, “It’s a hoax. Nothing was found.” Nonetheless, security measures at the court premises have been tightened in light of the incident. Further details are still pending.

In a similar case earlier on April 18, a bomb threat call received at Chakeri Airport in Kanpur was also found to be a hoax. The caller was apprehended within hours, as confirmed by police officials.

“At around 12:30 PM, the CISF was alerted by an unknown caller claiming a bomb was placed on a 72-seater plane at Chakeri Airport. The CISF promptly notified the Chakeri Police Station,” said ACP Sumit Sudhakar Ramteke of Kanpur Police Commissionerate.

Following the alert, the Chakeri Police and a surveillance team launched an immediate investigation. “The Chakeri Police and surveillance team quickly proceeded with their investigation and apprehended the caller by 3 PM,” the ACP explained. A preliminary investigation indicated that the call was a prank.
