Patna: In Bihar’s Darbhanga district, a government school teacher was shot and killed early Wednesday morning by two unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle, police reported. The victim, Mansoor Alam, was a primary teacher at Nasirganj Primary School in the Singhwada block and had been working there for 15 years.
According to officials, Alam was on his way to school on his bicycle, as he normally did, when two unknown men on a motorcycle intercepted him near the Bharwada-Kamtaul road under Singhwada police jurisdiction. The attackers shot him twice—once in the head and once in the shoulder—and he died instantly. The incident happened around 6 a.m., roughly 500 meters from the school.
Local residents heard the gunshots and rushed to the scene, alerting authorities. Police officials, including Sadar SDPO Jyoti Kumari, arrived at the scene with a team and took the body for a post-mortem at Sadar Hospital. A forensic team was also dispatched to collect evidence from the crime scene.
The police are investigating and currently believe the attack was carried out by two unidentified men on a motorcycle. They have assured Alam’s family that the perpetrators will be soon apprehended.
Kumari stated that a full investigation is underway to identify and arrest the suspects and that justice will be served for the victim’s family. Alam had been residing in a rented house in Shankarpur village, about two kilometers from his school. His sudden death has deeply shocked his family and the local community, which is demanding swift action and greater security for teachers and commuters in the area.
