Four people tragically lost their lives when a fire broke out in their rented room due to an electrical short circuit in the Saraswati Enclave area late at night, according to police reports on Saturday.
The victims have been identified as Noor Alam (27), Sahil (22), Aman (17), and Mohammad Mushtaq (22), all originally from Bihar.
Initial investigations indicate that the fire began in an electrical appliance within the room and quickly engulfed the entire space located on the first floor of a four-story building.
Firefighters were dispatched promptly following the alert. Neighbors reported that the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m., and they immediately contacted both the fire department and local law enforcement.
“While we tried to break into the room, it was locked from the inside,” recounted a neighbor. The fire was confined to the room where the four individuals were resting. “Firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire remains unknown,” they added.
Authorities confirmed that the cause of the blaze and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined. The bodies of the victims have been recovered from the scene.
The fire has been put out, and cooling efforts are currently underway. Although officials suspect a short circuit may have triggered the fire, an investigation is ongoing.
