Gurugram: The Gurugram Police have detained 23 women and girls for loitering in public areas as part of a special enforcement campaign.
Police officials reported that the operation was conducted by various teams, including those from the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) City, Women Police Station (West), SHO DLF Phase-1, DLF Phase-2, Durga Shakti Team, SIS, and Women Police Station (East) in Gurugram.
During the campaign, held at the city’s bus stand and MG Road, the police found these women engaging in loitering. The individuals were released after being warned not to participate in such activities in the future.
Karan Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the West Zone, stated that hotel, restaurant, and guest house operators who provide shelter to women and girls engaged in such illegal activities would face consequences, including the seizure of their establishments and legal action.
According to Goel, the presence of these women involved in inappropriate activities creates issues for nearby workers and locals, leading to an increase in mischief-makers in those areas, which ultimately disrupts the social environment.
“This special campaign was initiated by the Gurugram Police to curb such activities and ensure a better environment for the general public,” he emphasized.
This follows an earlier operation on March 20, when Gurugram Police detained 35 women and girls who were loitering primarily around MG Road and other locations in the city. That campaign was carried out by police teams from the Women Police Station at Sector-51 and Police Station (West).
