Monsoon reaches Kerala, enters northeastern states too
Monsoon reached Kerala on Thursday (May 30). Along with this, monsoon also entered Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Assam. Monsoon is expected to arrive in Delhi by June 27.
This time the monsoon has arrived a day before the forecast. IMD had predicted that it would reach Kerala by May 31. The reason for the early arrival of monsoon is said to be the Ramal cyclone, which hit West Bengal and Bangladesh on May 26.
Earlier, on May 30, 2017, the monsoon arrived early due to Cyclone Mora. In 2023, the monsoon entered Kerala on June 8 after a delay of seven days. Usually the monsoon enters Kerala on June 1 and covers most parts of the country by June 5.
