Jaipur: The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of heavy rainfall across several regions of Rajasthan on Thursday and Friday, due to the development of a new weather system.
Over the past 24 hours, parts of the state experienced moderate to extremely heavy rainfall, disrupting daily life. In Kota district’s Ramganjmandi, the highest recorded rainfall was 186 mm. While some areas in eastern Rajasthan received light to moderate rain, others experienced severe to very heavy downpours. Western Rajasthan saw isolated instances of light to moderate rain.
The weather forecast indicates that a well-defined low-pressure system over southwestern Bihar and nearby Uttar Pradesh is expected to advance, resulting in increased rainfall in eastern Rajasthan from July 17. Specifically, heavy rainfall is predicted in Kota on Thursday, with Bharatpur expected to experience extremely heavy rain on Friday. From July 18 onwards, rainfall activity is likely to intensify further in these areas.
Other divisions such as Ajmer, Udaipur, and Jaipur are forecasted to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, while Bikaner is expected to get light to moderate rain over the next two days. Jodhpur may see scattered rain showers.
Since Thursday morning, frequent heavy rains have impacted normal life in Jaipur, Nagaur, Behror, and neighboring regions. Several localities in Jaipur, including Tonk Road, Malviya Nagar, and Gopalpura, experienced waterlogging. In Nagaur and Behror, many areas were flooded, and residents faced challenges. Notably, students in a government girls’ school in Behror have been trapped as water levels reached knee-deep.
Heavy rains have also caused waterlogging around government buildings, including the Superintendent of Police’s office, and water levels continue to rise in certain areas.
