Mumbai: Police in Navi Mumbai have confiscated heroin worth ₹15.36 lakh from a lodge in the CBD-Belapur area and arrested two individuals from Punjab in connection with the case, officials reported on Tuesday.
Following a tip-off, the anti-narcotics team raided a room at a lodge on July 5. During the operation, they apprehended Pramjitsingh Mahindarsingh, 29, from Kapurthala, and Sukhvinder Dara Singh, 35, from Tarn Taran, and recovered 38.4 grams of heroin concealed in their belongings. The contraband was hidden within their belongings, according to a police official from CBD-Belapur station.
Three other people present in the room managed to escape, and authorities are actively working to locate them. An FIR has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the arrested individuals. Police are also investigating to trace the source of the drugs and determine their intended destination.
