​High-level meet held ahead of 50-year statehood celebration of Sikkim

Gangtok: A high-level meeting was convened at the State Secretariat in Gangtok on Wednesday to outline the roadmap for Sikkim’s upcoming 50th statehood anniversary. Chief Secretary V.B. Pathak presided over the meeting, which included senior IAS officials from various government departments. The primary goals were to review departmental plans for the celebrations and pinpoint key.

During the session, different departments presented their detailed project proposals and budget needs for the celebrations. Pathak emphasized the importance of effective coordination among departments to ensure the successful implementation of these plans.

He also highlighted that all departmental initiatives should align with the state’s vision for sustainable growth, ensuring that the celebrations serve as not just a moment of reflection but as strategic steps toward a prosperous future for all citizens. He stressed that the upcoming events should prominently feature Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage.

To enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives, departments were encouraged to collaborate with various stakeholders. The 50-year anniversary is seen as a chance to celebrate past achievements while laying the foundation for future growth.

Previously, Sikkim Chief Minister P.S. Tamang met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to invite him as the chief guest for the Statehood Day celebrations, which will take place on May 16 next year.

This milestone marks 50 years since Sikkim became the 22nd state of India in 1975. CM Tamang noted on social media that this historic event symbolizes the realization of long-cherished aspirations and the state’s integration into India’s democratic framework. He described the merger as a crucial point in Sikkim’s development, leading to modern institutions, advancements in science and technology, and various opportunities for comprehensive progress.
