Himachal CM Sukhu meets Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, discussion held on strengthening road infrastructure in border areas

Chief Minister Sukhu stressed the need to strengthen the road infrastructure, especially in the border areas.

New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss in detail the issues related to the people living in the border areas of the state and to deliberate on the priorities of the state government for the development of these areas. The Chief Minister stressed the need for necessary reforms from the point of view of security and development in the border areas.

Chief Minister Sukhu stressed the need to strengthen the road infrastructure, especially in the border areas. These roads were described as strategically important, because better roads in border areas play an important role not only from the point of view of security but also in making the lives of local people convenient.

He said that a strong road network in these areas will not only benefit the military forces, but will also help in carrying out relief operations quickly during disasters. Sukhu also described road connectivity as necessary to promote tourism in these areas, which will strengthen the economy of the region and create new employment opportunities.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated the issues raised by the Chief Minister and assured all possible assistance to the state government. He said that the Defence Ministry is committed to the security of the people of the border areas and strengthening the infrastructure there. In this meeting, both the leaders also agreed to further strengthen the coordination and cooperation between the central and state governments.

During the meeting, Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor Ram Subhag Singh and senior state government officials were also present, who gave their suggestions on technical and administrative aspects related to the development of border areas.
