Himachal Pradesh: The Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Himachal Pradesh has sent a proposal to the Indian government to upgrade 386 Mini Anganwadi Centers to Main Centers. Once approved, these centers will be transformed into fully operational Anganwadi Centers. So far, 153 Mini Centers have already been upgraded across the state.
Current Status and Future Plans
Social Justice Secretary Ashish Singhmear stated that the remaining 386 Mini Centers will be upgraded soon after the proposal’s approval. The centers in Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, and Una have been included in the initial upgrades.
Upgrading Mini Centers to Main Centers will also increase the salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers. Currently, workers receive Rs. 10,500 and helpers Rs. 5,000 per month. The new setup will create additional positions for helpers and increase salaries, ensuring better benefits for staff.
Himachal Pradesh currently has 539 Mini Anganwadi Centers. This initiative aligns with the central government’s Poshan 2.0 scheme, aiming to convert Mini Centers into fully developed centers to provide better education and nutrition to children.
