Hope center will fulfill their promise of restoring statehood status to J&K soon: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: The Chief Minister of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that one year was enough time for the Center to restore the statehood status to J&K, and hoped they can deliver their promise soon with the peoples of the valley.  Addressing the Media  at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre.

Srinagar: The Chief Minister of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that one year was enough time for the Center to restore the statehood status to J&K, and hoped they can deliver their promise soon with the peoples of the valley. 

Addressing the Media  at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC)  Omar on Thursday said that after taking charge again in the valley as Chief Minister the scenario was different as compared to past this time.

He also said that things have started improving and the government is working to address people’s concerns on priority. 

Replying to a que regarding the reservation policy Omar said that the government wants to secure the employment first after which they can work on reservation. “We have already set up a cabinet committee who are supposed to submit their report on the reservation. Apart from that there will be petitions in the High court on the reservation row.”

Regarding the electricity situation in J&K, he said that it has improved a lot and expressed hope that it will improve more with the completion of ongoing power projects.

“We will be able to provide 200 units of electricity for free only if meters are installed. When we roll out this scheme in March/April, only those who have meters installed.”

When asked about the alleged recruitment scam in appointments in fire and emergency services, he said, “We also want justice, but let the investigation process be completed. We can’t cut short the investigation process. Deserving candidates shall get justice.”

The Chief Minister dismissed rumours that the Central government or the BJP was putting pressure on him or his ministers.

“These rumours are false,” he said replying to a question.
