Horses and mules services resume on Kedarnath route

The service of horses and mules has started again on the route to Kedarnath. On Wednesday, more than 4900 horses and mules were operated.

Dehradun, May 15: The service of horses and mules has started again on the route to Kedarnath. On Wednesday, more than 4900 horses and mules were operated. They reached Kedarnath with pilgrims on the footpath and from Kedarnath they brought thousands of pilgrims to Gaurikund, Sonprayag and Linchauli.

During this time, the veterinary doctors of the Animal Husbandry Department conducted health check-ups of all the horses and mules at various places on the footpath to Kedarnath Dham. They were found to be completely healthy. Along with this, the police force also monitored the animals on the entire footpath.

At various places on the travel route, tin sheds have been built for horses and mules to provide them with warm water, food and rest. In case of any problem, horses and mules are stopped there. However, after the virus spread in the horses and mules, the infection rate has completely ended, 99% of the animals are completely healthy. Still, the team of the Animal Husbandry Department is conducting health tests of animals at various places.

Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that the department has formed teams at different places to test the health of all animals. If any horse or mule is found unhealthy, then its operation will be completely banned. He said that after the infection rate has decreased, the services of horses and mules have been started. But the testing of every animal will continue.

Actually, in the first week of May, equine influenza virus was found in horses and mules. After which, the operation of horses and mules on the footpath of Kedarnath Dham was banned.

Meanwhile, the team of the Animal Husbandry Department conducted a health check-up of all the horses operated in the Yatra. In which the virus was found in many animals. After this, all the sick horses and mules were quarantined. Now after the situation has become normal, the operation has been started again.
