‘I take my words back…’: Nitish Kumar apologizes for his ‘derogatory comments’ on population control

While apologising, Nitish said, “Mai apne shabd wapas leta hu, humane yun hi ye bate kehdi thi… Mere bayan ka galat matlab nikala gaya… Maine to mahilao ki shiksha ki bat ki thi.. Agar mere banyan se koi aahat hua hai to maafi maangta hu” (“I take back my words, we said these things casually… My statement was misinterpreted… I had talked about women’s education… If anyone has been hurt by my banyan, then I apologize.)

He said that his comments have been misunderstood and if it has hurt anybody, he will take it back.

A day after Nitish Kumar’s comments on population control methods, BJP Bihar unit leaders termed him a “mental chief minister” who brought embarrassment to the state. The BJP legislators went into an aggressive mode as soon as the proceedings of the Bihar Assembly started on the third day of the Winter Session.
