New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions with Pakistan, security has been tightened across India, with 24 major airports placed on high alert and some reportedly facing temporary closures. The heightened security comes as precautionary measures are stepped up at sensitive locations.

Airports in key cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, and Leh are among those affected. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has directed enhanced security checks, restricted access, and increased deployment of security personnel at these facilities.

According to sources, some airports have temporarily suspended flight operations or diverted flights as a safety measure, though full details are yet to be officially confirmed.

National carrier Air India has issued a countrywide travel advisory, urging passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport, arrive early, and comply with all security procedures.

While no direct threat has been disclosed, the alerts follow recent geopolitical developments that have raised security concerns. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with intelligence and security agencies on high alert.

Travelers are advised to remain patient and stay updated through official airline and airport communications.
