Mumbai (Maharashtra): Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal strongly condemned the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking at an event, he stated, “I condemn the Pahalgam terror attack. Our condolences go out to the families of the victims and the injured. We stand united in our grief and are committed to delivering an appropriate response. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has affirmed that we will identify the terrorists and bring them to justice.”

Goyal further emphasized, “India has proven its resilience time and again. Following the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the Pulwama attack, we emerged even stronger.”

Earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha met with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in Srinagar, urging him to take effective actions to ensure that those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack are brought to justice. He also called for intensified efforts to dismantle the terrorism infrastructure and its ecosystem.

During their discussion, the Lieutenant Governor expressed the nation’s confidence in the gallantry and spirit of the army, police, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). He insisted that they work together closely to identify the perpetrators, enablers, and overground workers associated with the Pahalgam attack, pursuing them thoroughly and consistently until they are neutralized.

“Every individual involved in the Pahalgam terror attack, regardless of their location or affiliations, must be tracked down and held accountable for this cowardly and despicable act against our citizens,” Sinha stated to the senior army officials.

The meeting also reviewed the existing security measures, discussing various short-term and long-term strategies as well as the integration and coordination among different security agencies. Attendees included GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, and GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava.

General Dwivedi arrived in Srinagar to evaluate the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Upon his arrival, he received a briefing from the 15 Corps Commander about the ongoing circumstances and met with senior Army leaders in the Kashmir Valley, along with officials from other security agencies.

He was also informed about the measures being taken by the Army against terrorist activities within their territory and the attempts by the Pakistan Army to violate the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC). The Indian Army remains on high alert, conducting numerous search operations to neutralize terrorists following the April 22 attack that left 26 people dead.
