Tirupati: An IndiGo flight heading to Hyderabad was compelled to return to Tirupati after experiencing a technical issue late last week, officials reported on Monday. Flight 6E 6591, which took off from Renigunta Airport at 7:42 p.m. on Sunday, circled in the sky for approximately 40 minutes before turning back.

The pilot identified the problem mid-flight and decided to circle before executing a safe U-turn, landing back at Tirupati at 8:34 p.m.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321neo, was scheduled to reach Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 8:30 p.m., with a planned departure from Tirupati at 7:20 p.m.

After the plane’s return, the airline announced the cancellation, leaving passengers stranded overnight. The exact nature of the technical issue remains unknown, and a technical team is currently inspecting the aircraft.

Passengers expressed frustration, with some stating that the flight was airborne for about 30 to 45 minutes before returning. One passenger, Prasad, mentioned that the aircraft’s air-conditioning system was not functioning, which contributed to the inconvenience.

Many travelers faced difficulties as they had already checked out of hotels and had trouble arranging transportation home. The airline confirmed that a minor technical fault was detected on the flight and that, as a safety measure, the pilots decided to return to Tirupati. The aircraft will undergo repairs before resuming service. All affected passengers have been offered rebooking on subsequent flights or full refunds, according to their preferences.
