New Delhi: Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officer Satish Kumar has been appointed as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board. Senior officials of the Railway Board said that Satish Kumar will be the first Dalit Chairman and CEO in the history of the board.
This appointment, approved by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), will be effective from September 1, 2024. Let us tell you that Satish Kumar will replace the current Chairman and CEO Jaya Verma Sinha. Satish Kumar took over as a Member (Traction and Rolling Stock) in the Railway Board in the Ministry of Railways on January 5, 2024.
Satish Kumar, a 1986 batch officer of the Indian Railway Mechanical Engineers Service, formally joined the Indian Railways in March 1988. He has 34 years of experience. Earlier he worked as General Manager in North Central Railway, Prayagraj. He also served as Divisional Railway Manager of Lucknow Division of Northern Railway from April 2017 to April 2019.
