Kulgam (Jammu and Kashmir): The Kulgam Police, in collaboration with the Army and CRPF, arrested two associates of terrorists and seized a cache of arms and ammunition in Kulgam district, south Kashmir.
According to an official statement, the arrests occurred during a routine checkpoint operation at Matalhama Chowk Thokerpora, Qaimoh, where security forces intercepted the two suspects. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Salam Bhat, and Mohd Ismail Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Thokerpora, Qaimoh.
Upon searching the individuals, security forces recovered two pistols, along with two magazines and 25 rounds of ammunition. A case has been filed against them under the relevant legal provisions at the Police Station Qaimoh, and an investigation is underway to gather further details.
In a separate operation, security forces and Jammu and Kashmir authorities demolished the house of a suspect linked to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and left many others injured. The suspect, Zakir Ahmad Ganie, whose residence was located in Mutalhama village in Kulgam district, is believed to have connections to the attack, which has caused widespread concern across the country. Officials noted that Ganie has been active since 2023.
