Ranchi (Jharkhand): Several vehicles were set on fire after clashes erupted between two communities during Holi celebrations in Jharkhand’s Giridih area on Friday, as per officials. Authorities confirmed that the situation is now under control and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the violence.
The incident took place when a Holi procession passed through a street near Ghodthambha Chowk, leading to an altercation between the two communities that caused chaos for about an hour. Officials from the district headquarters quickly arrived at the scene, helping to disperse the crowd.
Dr. Bimal, the SP, stated that no major injuries were reported, and efforts are being made to track down the perpetrators, with strong action to follow. He confirmed that some vehicles were set on fire during the clash.
Deputy Development Commissioner Smita Kumari also mentioned that anti-social elements attempted to disrupt the peace during the celebrations but assured that the situation was now under control. She added that investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the incident. Security forces have been deployed to maintain order, and more details are awaited.
