Jharkhand declares seven-day state mourning in honour of Manmohan Singh

Ranchi: Jharkhand has declared a seven-day period of state mourning in honor of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday night. During this mourning period, all state functions will be canceled. A notification from the Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department confirmed that the national flag will.

Ranchi: Jharkhand has declared a seven-day period of state mourning in honor of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday night. During this mourning period, all state functions will be canceled.

A notification from the Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department confirmed that the national flag will be flown at half-mast on government buildings throughout Jharkhand. This mourning will last until January 1, 2025, with no official state events scheduled during this time.

This decision has been communicated to all Divisional and Deputy Commissioners. Consequently, the ‘Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana’ event planned for December 28 in Khojatoli, Namkum, Ranchi, has been postponed. However, the disbursement of Rs 2,500 to eligible women under the scheme is already underway, with funds being transferred to accounts across various districts.

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren have both expressed deep sorrow at Dr. Singh’s passing. In his condolence message, Governor Gangwar remarked that Dr. Singh’s contributions as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Finance Minister, and Prime Minister will be remembered. Chief Minister Soren stated that the nation has lost a significant figure, highlighting Dr. Singh’s dedication to developmental politics and governance, and emphasized that his ideals will continue to inspire future generations.
