58,984 cases settled amicably in National Lok Adalat

Ludhiana: As many as 58,984 cases of different categories were settled amicably at national lok adalat on Saturday which was held at district courts as well as at sub-divisional level courts. As many as 58,984 cases of different categories were settled amicably at national lok adalat on Saturday which was held at district courts as well as at sub-divisional level courts.

A total of 66,768 cases were taken up for hearing today.

The cases that were taken up for hearing included criminal compoundable cases, cases under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, money recovery cases, MACT cases,  matrimonial disputes, land acquisition cases (pending before civil courts), electricity bill, water bill, service matters relating to pay and allowances and retrial benefits, revenue cases and other civil cases.

The National Lok Adalat was held under the leadership of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson of DLSA Ludhiana, Harpreet Kaur Randhawa, and the supervision of Harvinder Singh, Secretary, DLSA Ludhiana.

Harpreet Kaur Randhawa said that in this lok adalat 35 benches were constituted to settle the cases of different categories in district courts while nine benches were constituted at sub-divisional level courts in Jagraon, Khanna, Samrala and Payal.
