London bound Vistara flight gets security threat, diverted to Frankfurt later

Security officials in Frankfurt inspected the flight, finding nothing suspicious.

New Delhi: Vistara flight UK-17 from Delhi to London was threatened with a bomb blast late Friday night. This threat was given on social media. On receiving the information, the flight was diverted to Frankfurt, where after an investigation for 2.5 hours, security officials did not find anything suspicious. The security threat was found to be a hoax. In recent days, the number of incidents where security threat is given to airline have increased significantly.

The airlines said that all the concerned officials were immediately informed after receiving the threat, as of the protocol. The pilot took the decision to divert the flight to Frankfurt. Security officials in Frankfurt inspected the flight, finding nothing suspicious.

This is the 22nd incident of bomb threats on Indian planes in the last 6 days. Amidst the continuous threats, the central government decided to double the number of air marshals in flights on October 16. Apart from this, the Home Ministry has also sought a report from the Aviation Ministry.
