Five people died tragically after a sleeper bus caught fire in Lucknow. The double-decker bus, carrying around 60 passengers, was going from Bihar to Delhi when the accident occurred while passing through Lucknow in the morning. According to media reports, the deceased include 2 children, 2 women and 1 man. The bus was going from Bihar to Delhi. The accident took place at 5 am on the Outer Ring Road (Kisan Marg) near Mohan Lalganj. It is being told that most of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the accident.
According to the passengers, the moving bus suddenly filled with smoke, which spread panic. Within a few minutes, the flames started rising. According to eyewitnesses, the bus driver and conductor left the bus and fled. As there was an extra seat near the driver’s seat, the passengers had difficulty getting down. Many passengers got stuck and fell while getting down in a hurry. The people around immediately informed the police and fire brigade.
On receiving information about the incident, police from PGI, Mohan Lalganj, Sushant Golf City police station reached the spot. ACP Rajneesh Verma reached the spot and took charge of the rescue operation. The police took out the bodies of the deceased passengers from the bus and sent them for postmortem with the help of an ambulance. Half a dozen fire engines doused the fire in the double-decker bus. All the belongings of the passengers on board the bus were burnt to ashes.
