Bengaluru: Karnataka Police apprehended a madrasa in-charge in Bengaluru on Thursday for allegedly abusing his authority and violently assaulting young girls at the institution over minor infractions.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Kottanur police station, located on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Hassan.

Police reports indicate that Hassan managed a madrasa in Thanisandra, Bengaluru, and disturbing CCTV footage of the brutal assaults has circulated widely on social media.

Authorities revealed that Hassan’s sister served as the madrasa’s principal, and the assaults occurred in her presence, alongside other staff members.

Parents of the victims have protested, demanding stringent action against Hassan.

A case has been filed against him at the Kottanur police station.

The madrasa has been operational since 2012 and caters to around 200 students.

The over two-minute CCTV footage depicts Hassan and four staff members in his office while the terrified female students stood at the entrance. At one point, he yanked a girl’s hair and dragged her into his chamber, where he brutally beat her on the back.

The video also shows him twisting another girl’s fingers painfully and squeezing an object in her hand. As she cried out in agony, he slapped her face and struck her head repeatedly. When she fell to the ground, he kicked her multiple times. Additionally, he pressed another girl’s toes with his feet, forcing her to keep her legs together while applying full pressure. When she lost her balance, he held her and continued to stomp on her toes.

This shocking footage has left parents horrified and deeply worried about their daughters’ safety at the madrasa.

The police have arrested Hassan and are currently interrogating him.

Further information is anticipated as the investigation continues.
