Prayagraj: A large number of devotees continue to flock to Prayagraj’s Maha Kumbh teeth kshetra for a sacred dip. By 8 am on Wednesday, over 3.09 million (30.94 lakh) devotees had already bathed, bringing the total to more than 555.6 million (55.56 crore) since the event began. The 2025 Mahakumbh, noted as the largest spiritual and cultural gathering globally, started on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025) and will conclude on February 26.
Prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among others, have participated in the holy rituals at the Triveni Sangam. Former ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somnath, along with his family, also took part in the Mahakumbh Mela by bathing at Triveni Sangam and offering prayers. He shared on social media, reflecting on the experience as humanity’s quest for a connection to the universe and describing the dip as blissful, particularly in the company of Sadhus.
Previously, CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized the transformative development in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting Prayagraj, Kashi, and Ayodhya as representations of India’s potential. He credited PM Modi’s leadership for enhancing the country’s global image and noted the significant rise in devotees visiting Ayodhya, from 2.35 lakh in 2016-17 to over 14-15 crore in 2024, indicating a growing acknowledgment of faith and economic progress in the region. Following their holy dip in Prayagraj, many pilgrims are now heading to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and Ayodhya for darshan.
