Prayagraj: Prayagraj is preparing to host the Mahakumbh 2025, set to begin on January 13 and run until February 26. To ensure safety during this large religious gathering, the Uttar Pradesh Police will implement a seven-layer security plan and have initiated a thorough checking campaign. Over 2,700 AI-enabled cameras have been installed to bolster security measures.
The state government has also arranged for 125 road ambulances and seven river ambulances specifically for the Mahakumbh. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated that the 125 road ambulances are equipped with 15 Advanced Life Support (ALS) units. One of the river ambulances will be deployed today, with the others set to be stationed starting tomorrow. The government is committed to ensuring preparedness for any situation.
As the much-anticipated Maha Kumbh Mela approaches, an atmosphere of spiritual excitement and devotion permeates Prayagraj. Seers from several prominent akhadas, including Niranjani Akhada, Atal Akhara, Mahanirvani Akhara, Ahwan Akhada, and Juna Akhada, the largest in the Sanyasi tradition, have already arrived at the campsite.
Celebrated once every 12 years, the Mahakumbh is expected to attract over 45 crore devotees. Participants will gather at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, to take a holy dip believed to cleanse sins and grant moksha (liberation). The event will conclude on February 26, with key bathing rituals (Shahi Snan) scheduled for January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami).
