Pune: A 37-year-old man named Vikram Guruswami Reddy was shot dead during a dispute over a birthday celebration in Dehu Road, Pimpri Chinchwad, on Thursday night, according to police officials. The incident unfolded when a group confronted Reddy and his friend Nandkishor Yadav, who were celebrating Yadav’s niece’s birthday on the roadside. The confrontation escalated into an argument and a physical fight, injuring Yadav. When Reddy tried to intervene, one of the assailants shot him. He was quickly taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. Authorities have identified the suspects and are continuing their investigation.
In another case within the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad Police, a mysterious shooting case was resolved, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including the victim’s cousin, on February 12. The cousin, identified as 42-year-old Anant Singh, allegedly planned the attack over a contract dispute valued at ₹12 lakh, collaborating with his accomplice, Rohit Pandey. On January 20, Ajay Vikram Singh was shot in broad daylight at Kailas Steel Company in the Chakan MIDC area. After a 20-day inquiry, what was initially thought to be an extortion attempt turned out to be a family conflict regarding the contract.
Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey reported the arrest of Anant Singh in Madhya Pradesh, while Rohit Pandey was apprehended in Uttar Pradesh. The Anti-Gunda Squad, which is handling the investigation, has found that five individuals were involved in the crime, and authorities expect to apprehend all suspects soon. The probe indicated that the attackers had conducted surveillance on Ajay Singh’s routine prior to the shooting and had acquired two motorbikes to track his movements. Following the attack, the assailants fled to Visakhapatnam and then to Uttar Pradesh.
