Many people died in the stampede but nothing is known about their number. Many people were not found", she added.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave a controversial statement regarding Maha Kumbh. On the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, ‘This Maha Kumbh has turned into ‘Mrityu Kumbh’. I respect Maha Kumbh and the holy Ganga Maa.’ She said this while talking about the mismanagement in the Kumbh

She said that no planning has been done for Maha Kumbh. “Many people died in the stampede but nothing is known about their number. Many people were not found”, she added.

Mamata said, “There are tents worth up to Rs 1 lakh for the rich and VIPs in Maha Kumbh. There is no arrangement for the poor. Stampede situation is common in the fair, but it is necessary to make arrangements. What plans have you (UP government) made?”

Mamata gave this statement during the budget session in the assembly. Earlier, Lalu Prasad Yadav has called Kumbh useless.

Earlier, 18 people died in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on the night of 15 February. 9 of them were from Bihar. Lalu Prasad Yadav had said that Kumbh is useless when there was a huge crowd at Kumbh.

He said, “It is a very sad incident. I pay tribute to all the people. It is the fault of the railways. This incident has happened due to mismanagement and negligence. So many people have died. I am very sorry. The Railway Minister should take responsibility for this.”
