Gwalior: In a shocking incident, a man is accused of killing 28 pet pigeons belonging to his neighbor in the Scindia Nagar area of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
Kajal Rai, the owner of the pigeons, reported to the police that she had kept 50 tamed pigeons on her terrace, of which 28 were found dead at the hands of her neighbor, Mohit Khan. On the night of the incident, Kajal heard strange noises from her terrace, and upon investigating, she discovered Mohit Khan there. When she confronted him, he fled back into his house.
Upon further inspection, Kajal found that 28 of her pigeons had been gruesomely killed, while the remaining birds were in a state of panic and unable to fly. Kajal noted that tensions had existed between her and Khan regarding her pigeons, which had been a source of ongoing disputes.
After Kajal filed her complaint, the police alerted the District Forest Officials, who subsequently retrieved the carcasses for an autopsy. The results indicated that the pigeons had been killed by having their necks twisted. The deceased pigeons were later buried by the forest officials.
Authorities have registered a case against Mohit Khan under Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and Section 325 of the BNS. Additional Superintendent of Police Niranjan Sharma confirmed that an FIR has been filed based on Kajal’s complaint, and Mohit Khan is facing charges for animal cruelty.
