Kashmir: For the first time in 35 years, the soulful storytelling of Ram Katha is returning to the beautiful Kashmir valley, and it’s happening in one of the most scenic spots, Chashme Shahi in Srinagar.
Hindu Spiritual Icon Pujya Morari Bapu, known around the world for his deep and moving narrations of the “Ramcharitmanas”, will be leading the special event. The Katha will begin with Mangalacharan (opening prayers) on April 19 at 4 PM, at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC). Excitement is already building, with devotees from across India expected to gather for this rare occasion.
This will be Morari Bapu’s third Ram Katha in Jammu & Kashmir. His 666th Katha titled “Manas Amarnath” was held back in 2007, and his 801st, “Manas Matru Devo Bhava”, took place in Katra in 2016 in honor of Mata Vaishno Devi.
The upcoming Katha is being hosted by “Arunji Shrof from Kolkata”, a long-time devotee of Bapu. This will be the seventh Katha he’s organizing something he considers not a task, but a blessing. In his own words, he’s just a humble instrument in a much larger divine mission.
Preparations have been going on for the past two months in Srinagar, with teams working around the clock to make sure everything is ready for what promises to be a deeply spiritual and historic event.
