Prayagraj: As of 10 am on Thursday, more than 2.73 million devotees have participated in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela by taking a dip at the Triveni Sangam, according to the Uttar Pradesh government. This figure includes over 500,000 Kalpavasis (those who stay for the duration of the festival) and more than 2.2 million pilgrims.
As of February 12, the total number of devotees who have bathed at the Triveni Sangam has surpassed 482.9 million, marking a significant milestone in this grand event.
In related news, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, accompanied by a 166-member delegation that consists of ministers, the Legislative Assembly Speaker, the Governor, and lawmakers, visited the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Before leaving, CM Sai thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly for their invitation, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to participate.
Actor Vicky Kaushal also arrived in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, sharing his excitement about the visit. “I was eager to attend Mahakumbh and feel fortunate to be here,” he said.
Additionally, the ‘snan’ (holy dip) for Magh Purnima was successfully concluded on Wednesday, as reported by Urban Development Department Secretary Anuj Jha. He described the end of the Maghi Purnima ‘snan’ as a significant achievement, noting that hundreds of thousands of Kalpavasis and millions of pilgrims have visited over the past month. Jha acknowledged that the Urban Development Department was the nodal agency for the event and highlighted the efficient arrangements made for the gathering.
Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is recognized as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural event, drawing devotees from around the world. The festival will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
