New Delhi: The mother of a 17-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in the Seelampur area of Delhi expressed her frustration on Friday, stating that she has not received any updates from the police and accused the authorities of being complicit in allowing the culprits to escape.

“My son had been involved in a fight a few days ago, but he was merely observing when he was threatened and beaten up. Afterward, we took him to the hospital and went without food for two days. When he returned home, he asked for a samosa and milk and went out to get them around 7 PM. By 7:15, we received the devastating news that he had been stabbed,” she recounted to ANI. She also mentioned that the doctor who treated her son was attacked by some individuals.

Alleging police inaction, she said, “The police have made no effort to apprehend anyone. They haven’t taken any action; the assailants have locked their houses and fled. They even threatened to kill children. The police haven’t communicated anything to us.” Local residents in Seelampur continued their protests against the stabbing, blocking roads and demanding justice for the boy. Demonstrations persisted into the morning of April 18, with locals shouting slogans and holding placards that read, “Modi ji madad karo, Yogi model chahiye” (PM Modi, help us, we need the Yogi model).

A local protester stated, “Murders have been occurring in this area since 2012. My son was stabbed in 2010, and there have been six murders since then. We face numerous challenges here, and the goal seems to be pushing people to sell their homes and leave because of fear. Many residents remain here out of necessity.” Another protestor highlighted issues of harassment against women in the area, saying, “If girls go out, men harass them, blowing cigarette smoke in their faces and using abusive language. Despite our complaints, no action has been taken.” Sandeep Lamba, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for the northeast region, assured that the authorities are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects. “We are actively pursuing the accused and the investigation is ongoing,” he stated. According to Delhi police, the 17-year-old victim was taken to a hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
