Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that over 1.27 crore women beneficiaries of Madhya Pradesh’s flagship Ladli Behna Yojana will receive a monthly aid of ₹1,500 after Diwali, increasing from the current ₹1,250.
He disclosed that a dedicated budget of ₹27,147 crore has been allocated for women’s welfare, including ₹18,699 crore specifically for the Ladli Behna scheme. Yadav explained that beneficiaries currently receive ₹1,250, along with an extra ₹250 on Raksha Bandhan, and that the monthly benefit will be raised to ₹1,500 after Diwali.
At a women’s empowerment and tribal pride conference held in Sarai, he also highlighted that 51 lakh girls have benefited from the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, with total assistance of ₹672 crore disbursed.
The Ladli Behna Yojana was launched on June 10, 2023, by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, initially providing ₹1,000, which was later increased to ₹1,250. The scheme is credited with significantly contributing to the BJP’s decisive victory in the November 2023 state assembly elections.
Additionally, Yadav mentioned that over 9,000 tribal families have been granted land rights under the Forest Rights Act, and he pledged a 33 percent reservation for women in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
