Fatehgarh Sahib : Dr. Amar Singh MP, Fatehgarh Sahib today wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker demanding to call a special session to make a law to give MSP. He urged MPs from all parties to unite on the issue and put pressure on the Speaker and the government to call a special session where the enabling legislation can be passed unanimously.

In his letter, he reminded the Speaker of the Lok Sabha that after the farmers’ agitation in 2021, the Central Government had promised the representatives of the farmer unions that along with repealing the agricultural laws, the Central Government would make the Minimum Support Price a legal right for all crops.

Even after 2 years, no concrete steps were taken, due to which the farmers were forced to march to Delhi again to get their demands met.

He also added that Unprecedented violence has been used against farmers in the movement that started about two weeks ago. Late Shubhakaran Singh was shot by Haryana Police, while five other farmers have been martyred since the beginning of the movement. Hundreds of people have been injured in the firing while some people have been forcibly taken away by the Haryana Police.

In view of these circumstances, he requested the Speaker to call a special session of the Lok Sabha to pass a law giving legal mandate to minimum support price for all crops and to meet other important demands of the farmers.
