Mumbai: The Mumbai police have successfully busted a high-profile sex racket operating from a hotel in the Hiranandani area, arresting 60-year-old Shyamsunder Arora and rescuing four models working in the film industry. The rescued women have been sent to a shelter home for care and support.
Authorities were tipped off about the racket operating from a hotel in Powai’s Hiranandani area. Acting on the information, the police contacted Shyamsunder, posing as a potential customer. Shyamsunder allegedly demanded between Rs 70,000 and Rs 1 lakh per model, with the women ranging in age from 26 to 35 years. He sent pictures of the women, claiming they were connected to the film industry, and informed the fake customer that he would bring all four to the hotel.
The police set up a trap outside the hotel and, as Shyamsunder arrived with the women, the fake customer alerted the authorities. A raid was conducted, rescuing the four women and arresting Shyamsunder. During the operation, police seized eight mobile phones and Rs 3 lakh in cash from the hotel rooms.
Upon questioning, Shyamsunder revealed that another person from Charkop was also involved in the racket. The police are now searching for this additional suspect.
A case has been registered against Shyamsunder Arora under the Bombay Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA), and he has been arrested.
