Mumbai: Mumbai Police have received a WhatsApp threat directed at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ office, reportedly from a Pakistani number. The traffic wing of the police promptly registered a case and initiated an investigation.

The message was sent by someone identifying as Malik Shahbaz Humayun Raja Dev, raising suspicions of a potential plot from across the border to target the CM’s office. In response to the threat, security measures around CM Fadnavis, his office, and other significant government buildings have been heightened as a precaution.

Further updates are expected as the investigation continues, with authorities working to trace the origin of the message and assess its legitimacy.

This incident follows a recent email death threat received by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on February 20, which warned of a bomb targeting his car. The Goregaon and JJ Marg police stations, along with the Mantralaya, were involved in addressing these threats.

On February 21, the Mumbai Crime Branch, with assistance from Buldhana police, arrested two individuals—Mangesh Wayal (35) and Abhay Shingane (22)—in connection with the email threat. They are residents of Deulgaon Mahi in Buldhana district and were later brought to Mumbai for further investigation. Despite the threats, Deputy CM Shinde attended a swearing-in ceremony for Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and continued with his public engagements. An FIR related to the email threat was registered at the Goregaon Police Station.
