he Central Government has appointed Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi as the next Chief of Naval Staff. He will assume his new post on April 30.

New Delhi : The Central Government has appointed Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi as the next Chief of Naval Staff. He will assume his new post on April 30. Currently Vice Admiral Tripathi is the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff. Earlier he was the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Western Naval Command.

In his long career of nearly 40 years, he has been associated with many important campaigns. An alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa and National Defense Academy, Khargwasla, Dinesh Tripathi joined the Navy on July 1, 1985.

Tripathi, a communications and electronic warfare expert, has served in advanced naval vessels as a signal communications officer and electronic warfare officer.

Later served as Executive Officer and Principal Warfare Officer of the Guided Missile Destroyer INS Mumbai. He has also commanded INS Vinash, Kirch and Trishul. He has also been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Navy Medal. His wife Shashi Tripathi is an artist and homemaker. His son is a lawyer.
