New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against 17 individuals, including 16 absconders, involved in a 2024 attack on CRPF camps in Chhattisgarh carried out by Maoist terrorists armed with automatic weapons and explosives. Among those charged is one person, Sodi Baman alias Deval, who is currently in custody. The accused include key members of terrorist groups such as the Maoist Communist Party and regional committees, all linked to a conspiracy to wage war against India. The charges relate to an attack on CRPF camps in Bijapur district on January 16, 2024, which resulted in injuries to 12 security personnel, and involved attempts to loot weapons and supplies.

Investigations revealed that the accused had recruited youth, held conspiracy meetings, established training camps, and carried out recce missions before executing the attack. They also used tactics such as creating dummy camps for training and motivational activities. Earlier, on June 12, the NIA conducted searches at 15 locations across Punjab and Haryana connected to the terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in relation to a grenade attack on a police post in Amritsar. The searches yielded materials like mobiles, digital devices, and documents, which are being analyzed for further evidence.
