Patna: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out simultaneous raids in Muzaffarpur and Vaishali on Wednesday morning as part of an investigation involving two seized AK-47 assault rifles. One of the targeted locations was the home of Bhola Rai, the village head of Mankauli Panchayat in Muzaffarpur. The raid at Rai’s residence, which started around 3 A.M. and involved local police, resulted in the seizure of several documents, though details about the items collected have not been revealed.
This investigation dates back to July when two AK-47 rifles were recovered from a railway station and a cremation ground in Muzaffarpur, with links to Rai’s son. Both individuals have been under NIA scrutiny since then. In addition to the Muzaffarpur raid, another search was conducted at the home of advocate Sandeep Sinha in Vaishali, also related to the AK-47 case. NIA officials have not provided specific information regarding the outcomes of the search at Sinha’s residence.
These actions appear to be part of a coordinated effort to gather evidence and investigate those potentially connected to the acquisition of these sophisticated weapons. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
Additionally, on December 12, the NIA conducted a raid in Bajpatti Goth village in Sitamarhi district, taking a chicken seller named Mohammad Aleem into custody for questioning; however, the reason for this raid was not disclosed by the agency.
