Patna: Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, visited Buxar on Saturday as part of his Pragati Yatra, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects worth crores. Notably, he launched the long-awaited multi-village water supply scheme in Keshopur, which had been delayed for 15 years.
Additionally, he remotely inaugurated the Nikrish Pump Canal in Chausa block and laid the groundwork for a railway overbridge near Raghunathpur railway station. He also launched a light and sound show venue at Ramrekhaghat in Buxar and initiated the foundation for the Vishwamitra Tourist Hotel at Buxar Golambar, developed by the Tourism Department.
Following these inaugurations, Kumar will visit the Buxar Collectorate to review ongoing development initiatives and hold discussions with senior officials from various departments. The district administration has ensured comprehensive arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit, with the DM and SP conducting a joint security meeting with police and magistrate officers.
As part of the broader Pragati Yatra initiative, Kumar has been touring districts daily to review government projects, inaugurate schemes, and address local concerns. His recent visit to Buxar is anticipated to enhance development efforts and positively impact the district’s residents.
On the previous day, Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation for over 230 development projects worth ₹352 crore across the Arwal and Jehanabad districts. In Arwal, he initiated 114 projects worth ₹111 crore, including a newly built sluice gate in Mahavirganj village and multiple public facilities like a government degree college, a sports complex, and health and wellness centers, alongside renovations of local heritage sites under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan. In Jehanabad, he initiated 116 projects valued at ₹241 crore, including a government OBC residential girls’ senior secondary school and upgrades to a senior secondary school in Kazisarai Village.
