New Delhi: Communist Party of India (CPI) MP P Sandosh Kumar on Sunday said that Rahul Gandhi, being a leader of the INDIA bloc, should “show some amount of maturity,” as “no sensible man can compare RSS with Left parties.”
“Rahul Gandhi, being the leader of the INDIA Alliance movement, should show some amount of maturity. No sensible man can compare RSS with left parties. I don’t know what has happened to him. These kinds of immature, apolitical statements must not be done by a leader like Rahul Gandhi. The country is expecting something more from him. Whenever he speaks, he always shows some amount of immaturity, and how can he run the INDIA alliance? So the Congress party should take a serious note of this,” the CPI leader told ANI.
Hitting back at the Congress, he said it is, in fact, acting as the “B-team” of the Bharatiya Janata Party, pointing to the defection of many Congress leaders to the BJP.
“Most of his colleagues are in the BJP, who are acting as the B-team of Congress in the RSS-BJP. He is the most important supplier of cadres to the RSS and the BJP. His core team, all of them, are in the BJP now. I can give you a list, including Himanta Biswa Sarma…Almost all people are supplied by Rahul Gandhi only. So don’t compare left and RSS,” he added.
The CPI leader also referred to the all-party meeting ahead of the monsoon session, demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the House and clarify developments following the Pahalgam attack, particularly Operation Sindoor.
“The first thing is that the Prime Minister should come and address the House, making it clear what has happened in Pahalgam, the post-Pahalgam developments, and all related matters. I don’t think the government is going to respond positively,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi, while speaking at an event in Kerala’s Kottayam on July 18, had said that although he fights both RSS and Communists ideologically, his main concern is that they lack empathy.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while addressing an event in Kerala’s Kottayam on July 18, had said that while he fights both the RSS and Communists on ideology, his main objection to the organisations is that they do not have feelings for the people.
“I fight the RSS ideologically, and I fight the CPM ideologically, I fight them in the realm of ideas and in the realm of speech. But, my biggest complaint is that they do not have feelings for people,” the Congress MP had said.
“You can have whatever speeches, ideas, if you do not feel for people, not ready to connect or hug people you cannot be a leader. If you are in politics, feel what people are thinking, listen to them, and touch them. The real tragedy in Indian politics today is that very few people are actually feeling what others are feeling,” he added.
Following the remarks, both CPI General Secretary D Raja and CPI(M) Politburo member M A Baby objected to Rahul Gandhi’s comparison.
D Raja indirectly raised the issue at the INDIA bloc meeting on Saturday.
Without mentioning the name of the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition, D Raja called for restraint and being mindful before criticising each other.
