Odisha: Two boys have been registered for creating a social media video showing one of them lying on the railway tracks in Odisha’s Bolangir district, officials announced Monday. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) filed the case after discovering the video on social media platforms.
Investigation revealed that the footage, which depicts one boy lying on the concrete sleepers with an approaching train, was recorded between Purnapani and Jharmunda railway stations.
The two boys, aged 12 and 15, were brought to the RPF post in Balangir along with their parents for legal proceedings. Authorities confirmed that a case has been filed under sections 153, 145(b), and 147 of the Railways Act, with further legal steps being taken under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Local police and villagers helped the RPF identify the boys, who reside near Purnapani station. The 12-year-old appears in the video, while the older boy filmed the clip on his mobile device and uploaded it as a reel online.
The East Coast Railway urged parents and teachers to counsel children and prevent such dangerous and reckless behavior.
