Lucknow: A passenger onboard IndiGo flight 6E 2163, traveling from Patna to Delhi, died after his health suddenly deteriorated mid-flight on saturday morning. The flight was diverted to Lucknow for an emergency landing at around 10 am.
The deceased passenger, identified as Satish Chandra Barman, a resident of Nalbari, Assam, was traveling with his wife Kanchan and cousin-in-law Keshav Kumar. Upon noticing his declining health, the flight crew immediately alerted the pilot, who sought and received clearance for an emergency landing at Lucknow airport.
After landing, the airport’s medical team examined Barman but declared him dead. Local police from Sarojini Nagar were informed, and the body was sent to King George’s Medical University (KGMU) for post-mortem.
The deceased’s relatives have arrived at the medical college, while the police await the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations are also underway, with airport authorities reviewing CCTV footage for further insights into the incident.
