Passenger finds metal blade in meal, Airline issues apology

He revealed a blade was there in roasted sweet potato and fig chaat which he got to know after chewing for few seconds.

Bangalore: In an appalling incident, a passenger found sharp metal blade in the meal provided to him by the airline. The said passenger was traveling in Air India from Bangalore to San Francisco. He shared the same experience in a post on X. He revealed a blade was there in roasted sweet potato and fig chaat which he got to know after chewing for few seconds.

Sharing the picture of the meal provided, he wrote, “Air India food can cut like a knife. Hiding in its roasted sweet potato and fig chaat was a metal piece that looked like a blade. I got a feel of it only after chewing the grub for a few seconds. Thankfully, no harm was done. Of course, the blame squarely lies with Air India’s catering service but the incident doesn’t help the image I have of Air India. What if the metal piece was in the food served to a child? First picture shows the metal piece that I spat out and the second picture shows the meal before it put metal into my life. “

Reacting on the post shared, Air India while issuing apology said, “Dear Mr. Paul, we are sorry to know about this. This does not represent the level of service we aim to provide to our passengers. Please DM us your booking details along with your seat number. We’ll ensure this matter is promptly reviewed and addressed.”

Later while issuing a statement, Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experinece Officer said, “Air India confirms that a foreign object was found in the meal of a guest aboard one of our flights. After investigation, it has been identified as coming from the vegetable processing machine used at the facilities of our catering partner. We have worked with our catering partner to strengthen measures to prevent any recurrence, including more frequent checking of the processor especially after chopping of any hard vegetable”

As per the airline, the blade came from the vegetable processing machine used at the facilities of the catering unit. They also assured that they have worked in order to prevent any recurrence of such incident.
