New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to commence a three-day trip to Gujarat starting today, following the BJP’s significant success in the recent local body elections.
He will arrive in Jamnagar tonight and has a series of important meetings and activities planned throughout his visit. One notable engagement includes presiding over a meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust, where he regularly participates as a trustee due to the temple’s spiritual significance.
On the second day of his tour, the Prime Minister will visit Vantara, a modern animal rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation center located in Jamnagar. Covering nearly 3,000 acres, Vantara serves as a sanctuary for rescued wildlife and endangered species, and PM Modi is expected to enjoy a jungle safari there.
A key highlight of the trip will be his chairing of a meeting of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) in Junagadh district. As the ex-officio chairman, he will lead discussions on various wildlife conservation issues with the board’s 47 members, which include the Chief of Army Staff, state representatives, wildlife NGOs, chief wildlife wardens, and state secretaries. The board plays a vital role in shaping government policies on wildlife conservation and the protection of national parks and sanctuaries.
Following the NBWL meeting, PM Modi will interact with women forest staff in Sasan to acknowledge their contributions to wildlife conservation. He will then visit the historic Somnath temple in Gir Somnath district to offer prayers, before concluding his tour with a departure from Rajkot airport back to Delhi.
