Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Rajasthan on May 22, marking his first trip to the state since Operation Sindoor. The India-Pakistan border is approximately 200 kilometers away from Deshnok.
Operation Sindoor involved the Indian Army destroying several terrorist hideouts across the border in Pakistan. This visit comes after a period of heightened tensions between the two countries, which has now eased following a ceasefire agreement, restoring normalcy to the region.
During his visit, Modi will digitally inaugurate several railway stations across the country, including the Deshnok station, as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, and will also address the public.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will accompany him. On May 17, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal along with other central and state ministers will travel to Bikaner to finalize arrangements for the visit.
Preparations for Modi’s visit started Thursday after the Prime Minister’s Office provided instructions. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, modern facilities have been developed at two railway stations in the Bikaner division—Dabwali and Gogamedi. The work on Lalgarh station in Bikaner is nearly finished, and the construction of Deshnok station, part of the Jodhpur division, has been completed.
Overall, 22 stations within the Bikaner division are being reconstructed under the scheme, according to officials.
Despite the ceasefire, a drone was spotted on Thursday morning in village 12A near Anupgarh in Sri Ganganagar district along the border. Following the peace efforts, the temporary security post has been removed.
Tourist activities have resumed in the region, and as part of the reopening, the BSF organized a special puja and aarti at the Tanot Mata Temple.
