Patna: Police officials recently seized a horse that was being used to smuggle liquor, along with about 50 litres of alcohol loaded onto the animal in the West Champaran district of Bihar. The operation was carried out after receiving secret intelligence from the Superintendent of Police and his team. During the raid in the Gandak Diyara area, authorities recovered the horse and nearly 49.95 liters of foreign liquor.

Rajesh Kumar, SHO of Nautan PS, stated, “During the raid yesterday, we found 49.95 liters of alcohol on a horse. The liquor smuggler managed to escape from the scene, but we have identified him and will arrest him soon. The horse will be handed over to a responsible person who can take proper care of it. We will also notify the court about this arrangement.”

The police believe the liquor was being transported on horseback due to the difficult terrain in the Diyara region. Although the smuggler escaped, law enforcement officials have identified him and are actively working on his arrest.

The authorities plan to assign the horse to a trustworthy individual and will inform the court in writing about the caretaker so that the animal can be presented as evidence if needed in further proceedings.

Notably, the police have observed a recent shift in smuggling tactics in the Diyara area, where smugglers are increasingly using horses instead of bikes for transporting liquor. This change in method is being factored into the ongoing investigation.
