New Delhi: The order to revoke the President’s rule was issued late on Sunday night before the formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir. The Home Ministry said that President Draupadi Murmu has issued an order to end the President’s rule immediately before the swearing-in of the new Chief Minister. The order to revoke the President’s rule has paved way for the formation of new J&K govt.
The last assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held 10 years ago in 2014. After the elections, the BJP-PDP formed a coalition government. The government fell in 2018 after the BJP withdrew its support and Mehbooba Mufti resigned from the post of CM. Since then Jammu and Kashmir have been under the rule of the Center.
Here, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah can take oath as Chief Minister today. In the assembly elections, the National Conference (NC) won 42 seats, its ally Congress won 6 and CPI (M) won one seat. After the result, NC chief Farooq Abdullah said that Omar would become CM.
Omar was elected leader of the legislature party in the meeting held on October 10. After this, Omar went to Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on the evening of 11 October, met LG Manoj Sinha, and staked claim to form the I.N.D.I.A. block government in Jammu and Kashmir.
