Rain alert in 6 districts of Uttarakhand: Warning of heavy rain with strong winds

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rain in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand today as well.

Dehradun, May 23: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rain in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand today as well. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Nainital, and Bageshwar districts. A yellow alert has been issued regarding rain in these districts.

According to the Meteorological Centre, an alert has been issued for strong winds along with rain in these hilly districts of the state. Also, a hailstorm is expected at some places. Apart from this, light clouds will remain in Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts and there is a possibility of drizzle.

The weather will remain bad till May 26

Director of Meteorological Centre Vikram Singh said that the weather will remain bad in the state till May 26. After that, the weather will be dry in the entire state. After May 26, the temperature is likely to increase, especially in the plain districts. However, due to the rain in the hilly districts in the last few days, the temperature has dropped in the plain districts.

Devotees coming on pilgrimage should be cautious

He said that especially the devotees coming for the Char Dham Yatra should be extra cautious. All preparations should be complete before coming on the Yatra. Apart from this, people living on the banks of rivers and streams in the hilly districts of the state should also be cautious. He said that due to heavy rains at some places, rivers and streams may overflow. Instructions have been given to remain alert on the Char Dham Yatra routes as well.
