Rajasthan: Twelve individuals, including eight children, tragically lost their lives in a collision between a bus and a tempo on the Karauli-Dholpur highway (NH 11B) late Saturday night in Dholpur, Rajasthan.
The tempo was returning from a family event in Barauli village when it collided with a sleeper coach bus. The victims, all residents of Gumat Mohalla in Bari City, were traveling in the tempo during the incident, which occurred in the Bari Sadar police station jurisdiction.
Witnesses on the highway alerted the police about the accident. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials transported the injured to Dholpur District Hospital for medical attention. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary at Bari Hospital, where an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Bari Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Shiv Lahari Meena reported that the collision occurred around 11 p.m. near Sunipur village on the Dholpur highway, resulting in the deaths of twelve people, including five boys, three girls, two women, and one man.
“The bodies are at the hospital mortuary, and post-mortem examinations will be conducted soon. Both the tempo and the bus involved have been seized,” the SHO stated.
According to the SHO, the passengers in the tempo were all from Bari City, returning home after attending a family gathering in Barauli when the crash happened.
Dr. Harikishan Mangal, PMO of Bari Hospital, noted that around midnight, 14 injured individuals arrived for treatment. He reported that out of those 14, 10 have passed away, while the remaining four, who are severely injured, have been referred to Dholpur for advanced medical care.
